abracadabra

I remember as a kid playing with decks and decks of cards and building big tall card castles. The best part is always putting the last card on the top of the pile and making sure none of the cards tumble...but when they do...it's like a cool pile of dominos falling on top of each other, one after another in different directions...

I'm excited to use my new Reeves soft pastels and Strathmore Charcoal paper. There's something exciting when you use and open a fresh 'somthing'. It's like a new start. It's a lovely feeling.

To me, creating art is a meaning...it's a feeling...yes it's emotion and passion...but the point where it is exceptional is when you stop thinking and let your creativity take over...creating from a deeper place...

A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX :

1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK.
2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.
3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.
4.) IN LIFE, YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS,
WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.
5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

We all need to be constantly sharpened. This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities. Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish. Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what's inside of you.

Tribute to my friend who's going to a pool competition next week! I don't think it's done but couldn't help to post!

Paper!

My friend just gave me a beautiful piece of kozo hand made paper he made and I was wondering all day what to draw on it....equipped with my trusty Mars plastic, soft pastels and black ink pens...I think I erased my drawing over 5 times and luckily the beautiful paper stayed intact. There's something so natural, perfect about the fibers that intertwine together..creating this wonderful texture... so here's some teasers..

Perfume perfection

I really enjoyed doing this piece tonight. I love perfume but the really feminine, light, floral kinds...my ultimate favorite? Chloe....which reminds me, I'm all out an need to restock...there's something delicious about an intoxicating scent...spritz or not...
